The Health Benefits of using organically grown products to build our mattresses, pillows, and bedding without the added chemicals and toxic glues makes a huge difference in our clients lives. Due to the fact we use pure materials our mattresses last 10-20 years instead of the 3-7 years like most traditional mattress. Most people find us because they already had a bad experience purchasing a mattress. Our mission is to get our information out there so our future clients don’t have to go through that bad experience first. Learn about the health benefits of the materials we use to build our mattresses below…
Organic Cotton Field
Conventional cotton production has a devastating environmental impact. Not only is 20% of the worlds pesticides and 25% of the world’s insecticides used to grow cotton but enormous quantities of chlorine, toxic dyes and finishing chemicals are used to then process it. That’s why we believe using organic cotton is so important – to protect you, your family, and our environment. Organic cotton is grown without the use of GMO’s, pesticides, herbicides, etc. and produces no off-gassing. Choosing organic cotton really makes a difference. Organic cotton is grown without the use of GMOs, pesticides, hermaicides, etc. and produces no off-gassing. Organic cotton is soft, breathable and comfortable next to your skin. It is great for people with chemical sensitivities or allergies. We offer organic cotton mattresses, pillows, duvet inserts/covers, and sheets.
The Rubber Tree Forest
Our All Natural Latex comes directly from the sap of rubber trees. There are two processes that turns this liquid sap into a solid – one is the Dunlop Process and the second one is the Talalay Process.
All Natural Dunlop latex, which is often compared to pound cake, has been made the same way since the 1920s. The thick rubber sap, or serum, is whipped into a froth in a centrifuge, poured into a mold, covered, and steam baked. Natural sediments in the mixture settle to the bottom of the mold. This makes every Dunlop layer slightly firmer on its bottom side. Although processing methods have advanced, this is foam rubber made the way it used to be, before synthetic (and toxic) chemicals were substituted for natural rubber serum. Dunlop is the densest natural latex, and is available in a range of firmnesses. Dunlop is yielding beneath the body, but not “bouncy.” For people who need a comfortable, reliable sleeping surface, it’s ideal. People with nerve-related back pain particularly appreciate Dunlop’s consistent, stable support. Softer Dunlop layers at the top of a mattress can cushion gently, while medium and/or firm layers below offer as much support as desired. Because Dunlop is less processed than Talalay, it is less expensive. This makes it a popular choice for multiple uses, including beds for children, guests, or for anyone who prefers to avoid a pillowy or “sinking” mattress feel.
All natural Talalay latex is the most luxurious natural latex and often compared to angel food cake. The Talalay process adds two steps. After the latex is poured, the mold is sealed and the process is continued in a vacuum chamber. The mold is then flash-frozen before it’s baked. Talalay latex has a more consistent cell structure from top to bottom and edge to edge and a more supple feel. It is also more expensive than Dunlop. Talalay is available in a full range of firmnesses, from very soft to very firm. Because of its unique cell structure, it also has a naturally “springy” character that makes it super responsive, pressure relieving and supremely comfortable. Soft natural Talalay has a cradling feel that some compare to that of memory foam. Although Talalay conforms wonderfully to body contours, its unique cell structure also means it has a built-in natural buoyancy. This allows the foam to provide durable support along with comforting pressure relief. With Talalay, luxurious comfort also means no sacrifice in reliable, stable support for the spine. Unlike conventional synthetics, natural Talalay is one of the most breathable latex foams. Sleepers can enjoy the comfort of Talalay’s extra-responsive performance without the uncomfortable heat buildup that makes most foams unpleasant to sleep on. Watch how it works.
All natural latex is dust mite repellent, hypoallergenic, mold and mildew resistant, and antimicrobial. Perhaps one of the very best health benefits that owners of natural latex mattresses report is that your spine is aligned all night long as you sleep. Natural latex contours to your body. It offers the best of comfort and support. It is so resilient, that you are guaranteed not to get indentations that are common with other mattresses. Natural latex gives you a nice amount of springiness, or kickback (unlike memory foam), it changes shape as you change sleeping positions. So, all night long you will be able to experience comfort and support, while easing the tension on any pressure points or injuries that you may have along the whole course of your body. Natural latex foam is noted for its excellent pressure point reduction and back pain relief. In fact, these beds are wonderful for arthritis sufferers, as well as those who have fibromyalgia, other pain related syndromes, sports injuries, and the like. Because the mattress is not made up of harmful chemicals, there is no off gassing of noxious fumes. The only “smell” that the owner of a new natural latex mattress may detect is a faint, sweet vanilla-type of smell or rubber. And because of the solid latex core (usually Dunlop), latex mattresses rarely if ever have problems with bed bugs as do other mattresses that have a lot of open space in the mattress core. The allergen-causing proteins that some people are allergic to get washed out in the process of producing the end latex foam mattress product. We use all natural latex in many of our mattresses, toppers, and pillows.
